This year Harwood offers a new take on our annual fundraiser. Artists — emerging, established, strictly speaking and also in a loose sense of the word — were invited to create a piece of art on a 12 x 12 inch sheet of plywood. Then, we asked them to sign the work on the back. You’ll know who is in the show, but you won’t necessarily know what they created. Each piece is $144, or a dollar per square inch and every bit goes to support Harwood, a center for community and the arts.

Embrace mystery. Buy what you love. Support Harwood!

1. 60/60ABQ: Creative Interpretations of Public Lands: Stephen Ausherman

Stephen Ausherman is the author of the guidebook, 60 Hikes within 60 Miles of Albuquerque. In 2005, he served as the writer-in-residence for Bernheim Forest in Kentucky, and for the National Park Service in Wyoming and Arkansas. Culling photos, video, notes, maps, sketches and other materials from three years of field research, Ausherman has created multimedia works that reexamine the interface between people and parklands.

2. Journeys II: Rio Grande High School AP Art Students, 2nd Annual Group Exhibition

Each student in this exhibition is on a journey to discover his or her passion and artistic voice.  These exceptional students are using the language of visual arts to communicate ideas about their world and their place in it. Enjoy a glimpse of the future, and celebrate their work.
