Monotype is considered the “Painter’s Print:” An image is created by rolling or painting with ink directly on to a plate, and transferred onto paper using a printing press. Usually only one impression is pulled. In this four-week workshop, various techniques of applying ink to create images will be explored. We will work with both oil and water based inks. Experimentation and exploration of ideas will be encouraged. Students should be ready with ideas and sketches, and bring their favorite brushes and drawing tools. All other materials will be supplied and extra paper can be purchased during class time. A $25 supply fee should be paid to Carol at the first class meeting. All skill levels welcome. Sign up early as class size is limited.
