Catalina Delgado-Trunk
Papel picado is the Mexican art of cutting paper into intricate designs. Common themes include birds, floral designs, and skeletons. Strings of papel picado banderitas (flags) are commonly displayed for Easter, Christmas, Day of the Dead, weddings, quinceañeras and christenings. Catalina will guide you through the process of creating your own beautiful, ephemeral works of art and will fill you in on the history of this lovely, decorative pastime.
