A few simple reasons that you should spend time ensuring that you have healthy trees:

They convert tons of carbon dioxide back in to oxygen. Their cooling shade makes afternoons in the yard enjoyable and  can reduce air conditioning expenses. Birds are drawn to spaces with diverse vegetation. If you tend a garden you know how helpful birds can be in eradicating pesky insects. Lastly, a healthy fruit bearing tree grows delicious treats for we humans.

How does pruning affect trees?

• Improve a plant’s over all health
• Control and direct new growth
• Prevent the spread of disease
• Increase the number and quality of fruit, flowers and foliage
• Improve air circulation and allow light to reach inner and lower leaves
• And much more!

Learn practical information like how to read bud growth and prune for enhanced flowering and fruit production. Learn how to let each tree sing according to its own unique architecture! This workshop emphasizes hands-on learning with trees at the Harwood, so come in work clothes and good sturdy shoes or boots.

*please bring your lunch!

Laurie Lange is a landscape designer whose work with trees has included budding, grafting and pruning.
